Laurie Renton has been in the Insurance and Investment business since 1987. She acquired her general insurance license in May of 1987 while working for a local agency. After a couple years in the insurance, she decided to expand her horizons and knowledge and completed the Canadian Investment Fund course authorized to sell MF Investments in 1992. In 1994, she saw a vision of becoming an entrepreneur, which is something she had always admired in her dad. She bought an existing business, creating LR Future Insurance & Investments, making her President and Owner. Since 2000, she has also been the property owner of the current location. She is the current President of the Yorkton Business Improvement District as well as a volunteer on the Promotions Committee. She was a co-founder of the Parkland Chapter of Women Entrepreneurs and the Summer Sizzle fund raising event, which is still running in its ninth year. Laurie was president of the organization for two terms. Her business is a member of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce as well as Insurance Broker’s Association of Saskatchewan.
Laurie is a life long learner and just acquired in summer of 2006 her phase 1 of life skills coaching through the Urban Circle Training center and YWCA, planning to acquire phase 2 in the new year. She is the chair for the Saskatchewan advisory committee for MGI Financial. She is involved in the Innovative park-planning project with the City of Yorkton. She loves to facilitate goal-setting classes with other business owners as well as her clients.
Laurie is innovative and loves marketing and promotions, but especially loves working with people; she loves to coach and work with her clients to help them with their dreams and aspirations. She comes from a family of 5 girls and being the eldest has taught Laurie a lot about being in charge and creating guidance as she did for all of her sisters, one now working for her (Karen). She is involved in many different charities through support and prizes for any events that come our way. In her spare time, Laurie loves to golf and curl, spend time with friends and family and just hang out at the beach.
